To maintain your oral health, routine visits need to be scheduled according to your needs. The doctor or hygienist will inform you of what your individual needs are. However, these visits will only allow the removal of plaque and calculus which have accumulated since your previous visit. In between these visits, you need to practice good home care. Use the instructions you were given from the office. This means not only brushing your teeth consistently, but correctly flossing every day. Flossing is the only way to remove the plaque between teeth and under gums, which can help prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath.
The time you take to have good oral care determines the future dental visits you undergo. Hillcrest Dental is your Dentist in College Park. Our Team is here to answer any of your questions. Please stop in at Hillcrest Dental’s Dentist office located at 3600 Formosa Ave., or call us today at 1-407-898-2371.
Dr. David J. Akkara
Dr. Akkara was born in Atlanta but spent his formative years in Connecticut. He experienced his first exposure to dentistry at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Akkara volunteered at the dental school and quickly realized that he desired to pursue a degree in dentistry. After graduation with a degree in neuroscience, he was accepted into the 2nd oldest dental school in the country, Temple University School of Dentistry. Temple has been producing successful dentists since 1863. At Temple, he focused his efforts in developing what he calls “comfort dentistry.” After dental school, Dr. Akkara went on to do a one-year residency training program at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, NY. During this year, he further developed his “comfort dentistry,” and his office and skill set are geared towards this.
Dr. Akkara met his wife Annie in 2004 while he was in dental school. They spent their early years together in Manhattan, NY, and have been happily married since 2006. Annie is originally from Florida, and they were excited to return and start their family here. Their pride and joy are their children Aidan and Ava. If he’s not in the office, you’ll likely find him at Crossfit or spending time with family and friends
Hillcrest Dental is very different from your typical dental office, and they have unique techniques to alleviate your fears. Like Dr. Akkara always say, p*in is a four-letter word that they don’t like to say in the office. He have a passion for dentistry that makes him committed to providing exceptional dental care together with compassion and patience, and hopes to share this with you if you chose to join our office family.
